All classes at New Start are offered in either English or Spanish. No diploma or GED required.
Looking for a career with variety, steady employment, and opportunities for professional growth? Hundreds of New Start graduates have found jobs in hospitals, rehab centers, medical offices, home health care, nursing homes, adult- and child-care centers, schools, country clubs, etc. Hundreds more have continued their medical education.
In just 6 weeks (and only 4 hours a day), you’ll become a Nurse Assistant, and Physical Therapy Tech.
New Start is approved by the Texas Workforce Commission and the Department of Aging and Disability Services.
Classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and caring for patients in clinical settings make the curriculum fast-paced, hands-on, and interesting. In less than 5 weeks, you’ll be eligible to take the state certification exam and become a CNA. New Start’s better than 90% pass rate says a lot about our top-notch teachers and a lot about our students.
Choose between morning, afternoon, or night classes. (A weekend class meets for 10 Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
Congratulations! Now you’re ready for PTT!
At the end of the class, you’ll take skills and written exams to become certified by a national home health and hospice organization.
Physical Therapy Technician
Have you ever been strapped into a wheel chair, boarded a bus, visited the mall (including the rest room), and stared up flights of stairs and escalators while juggling bulky packages? If you had attended New Start’s PTT class, your answer would be yes.
Accidents and crippling illnesses strike thousands of Valley residents of all ages. Helping licensed physical therapists restore their bodies and prolong their quality of life appeals to hundreds of New Start students every year.
For two intensive weeks, PTT students (who, by now, are CNAs) study body systems, terminology, equipment, and basic procedures commonly performed by therapists in rehab centers. Visits to local clinics increase their understanding of treatment facilities and techniques.
You deserve a good job and our work coordinator will help you get it. With a master’s degree in business administration, she’ll give you up-to-date info: Who’s hiring? Where to go. Who to see. What to wear. You’ll practice interviews and use the computer to make your own resume, applications, and business cards for an attractive portfolio, complete with certificates and letters of recommendation.
